Project presentation in the leading education conference in Europe

ECER (European Conference on Educational Research) is the leading education conference in Europe organised annually since 1992.

The aim of the ‘European Conference on Educational Research’ is to create an inclusive platform for initiating, reporting, discussing and promoting high quality educational research, that not only acknowledges its own context but also recognises wider, transnational contexts with their social, cultural and political similarities and differences. The conference is organised for emerging, as well as experienced, researchers and builds on and promotes free and open dialogue and critical discussion. ECER 2016 "Leading Education: The Distinct Contributions of Educational Research and Researchers" will take place at University College Dublin from 22-26 August, 2016.

Professor Ineta Luka, Turiba University, Latvia, has written a paper based on the piloting results and course evaluation of the project outputs in the partner countries and the paper is published in the online Conference Proceedings. Information on the Project Presented to the University Management

On June 28-29, 2016 Turiba University organized its annual strategic seminar for the University management in a resort town Apsuciems, close to Riga. During the seminar different administrative and academic issues were discussed and the strategic priorities and tasks for the next study year were set.

The head of the Language Department Prof. Ineta Luka explained to Turiba University management – vice rector in Academic and Scientific Affairs Mr.Ivars Namatevs, vice rector in International Affairs Mr.Imants Bergs, head of the Department of Business Administration assoc.prof. Rosita Zvirgzdina, head of the Department of Communication Sciences Dr.Inese Runce, the vice dean of the Law Faculty Ms.Ivita Kisnica, the head of External Relations Ms.Inese Raiba, the head of the Study Information Centre and the Youth Hostel Ms.Iluta Ernstsone how the work at projects is organized and how the project outputs can be used in the study process and in developing Turiba University employees’ language competence. Since the University is expanding its international borders, it is essential to enhance the employees’ English language competence and the project outputs can serve as a useful tool for this. It was decided to organize a seminar for the University staff and introduce the project outputs to those University employees who are in daily contact with international students.

Dissemination at Srednja šola za gostinstvo in turizem in Celje, Slovenia

David Sephton of Prirmrose Publishing gave a dissemination on 20th June at the Hotel School in Celje, Slovenia. He presented the e-Learning Platform and the materials that we created on our Hotels project to 54 students from the two top classes. The head-teacher and deputy and other teachers also took part. The students were really enthusiastic and asked for a further informal session afterwards so they could ask questions. The school is really keen to make full use of all the materials.
