On Thursday, February 5 2015, Turiba University held a project dissemination meeting at its premises. The project team members participated at the meeting of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality of the Faculty of International Tourism in which the ideas about the language course, suitable to Turiba University needs were exchanged. Tourism professors supported the project team with lots of ideas and they are looking forward to the created course that would be very useful for the University students before having their summer internship in the hospitality enterprises.

Key Skills for European Union Hotel Staff
The project, which lasts two school years (September 2014 – August 2016), aims to:
-ascertain the level of competence e ability (specifically, professional skills and linguistic competences) with an eye to their relevance in the labour market
-motivate hotel staff by providing them with the competence needed to offer a better service when communicating with a customer in his or her language

The project aims to create a wide variety of answers to the various questions and requests of customers in typical situations at reception, at the restaurant, at the bar and other hotel contexts. The material, available on DVD and smartphone application, will be produced in 12 languages (English, Italian, Croatian, Latvian, Slovenian, Romanian, Hungarian, German, French, Russian, Spanish and Greek).

The project aims to create a comprehensive guide to cultural differences between European and extra-European countries and provide answers to the question:
“What to do and, more importantly, what not to say and do in various countries and contexts while talking to foreign customers?”

•The teachers involved will translate and draft the material, present and disseminate the project;

In the two days’ activities we analysed the project in terms of contents, activities to be carried out, schedules and administrative work. Each partner presented a report on the tourism market of their own country, trying to pinpoint its specific needs. Project Dissemination at Education Fair “School 2015”
Just like every year Turiba University presented the study opportunities in the exhibition “School 2015” from 27 February till 1 March, 2015 in Kipsala International Exhibition Centre in Riga, Latvia. It is the most important event of the year for the Education field, gathering thousands of young people from Latvia.
In Turiba University booth everyone interested could find information about more than 20 Bachelor, Master and Doctoral study programmes in Business Administration, Law Sciences, Tourism and Hospitality Management, as well as Public Relations and Journalism. Alongside with the programmes mentioned, the “Skills4Hotels” project had its place in the both as well. All the attendants of Turiba university booth could also get first-hand information about the project.
At the same time the “Latvian Book Exhibition 2015” took place in the hall. During the first day (27.02.2015.) of the exhibition the “Skills4Hotels” project leaflets were disseminated in both exhibitions. The project members also informed other education institutions of Hospitality sector about the new project. Their representatives found the project interesting and useful for their institutions as well.

On 11 December, 2014, the Department of Foreign Languages of Turiba University, Latvia organised the project “Key Skills for European Union Hotel Staff” (Project No. 2014-1-HR01-KA2014-007224) dissemination seminar.
The target audience was Turiba University teaching staff – 18 professors and tourism industry representatives giving lectures to the students of the Faculty of International Tourism.
During the seminar the project manager of Turiba University team, Dr.paed. associate professor Ineta Luka, introduced the seminar participants with the project aim, objectives, project stages and expected project outcomes. The participants discussed the issues and made suggestions for the learning tasks for students and industry employees.
Erasmus+ project “KeySkills for European Union Hotel Staff”

From 7th to 13th December 2014 Primrose held its traditional 6-day Euro-Skills course at Cambridge University, in Cambridge, England. The course participants were a group of 12 Slovenian teachers from hotel and tourism schools. During the course a special dissemination seminar was organized to introduce course participants to the project.
The seminar consisted of a presentation of the project accompanied by a demonstration how the software programs work, and then a series of images projected onto the screen of the 7 draft digital maps being developed on the digital-map web-site. This was followed by an account and demonstration of how the digital maps will be used.Each participant had been given a copy of the four “Guest Questions” computer programs: Village, Seaside, Ski Resort and Restaurant. These they installed on their laptops and were shown how they will be used by teachers, students and hotel trainees. They were able to watch a demonstration on the big screen of the programs in action in the seven languages already completed: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Greek. They were then able to practise using the 4 programs on their laptops. Reactions were both positive and enthusiastic. They all want to be kept in touch as the project develops and to have copies of the new materials as they are completed. They want to try out the materials with their students.

Final project meeting in Murska Sobota, Slovenia, June 15-17, 2016

The fifth meeting for the Erasmus+ project KEY SKILLS FOR EUROPEAN UNION HOTEL STAFF (project no.2014-1-HR01-KA204-007224) was held in Murska sobota, Slovenia. The meeting was organized by the project partners Ekonomska šola Murska Sobota (Slovenia) and was attended by all the other project partners' representatives: Tourism and Catering School Dubrovnik (Croatia), Primrose Publishing (UK), IPSSA Nino Bergese (Italy), Universitatea Sapientia din Cluj-Napoca (Romania) and Turiba University (Latvia). During the meeting held on June 15, there was the project dissemination event organized with stakeholders from Slovenia. It was also attended by invited representatives of stakeholders from partner countries. This event was very well attended. In addition, invited industry representatives from different countries shared their impressions of the project results and the feedback was really positive. The event was also attended by Slovenian national television representatives interviewed by the project coordinators.
From 16 - 17 June there was a meeting held, the partners discussed the project development progress, analyzed the language modules results, as well as developed guidelines to improve and enhance the interest in the project design materials. Project Coordinator presented the Croatian National Agency audit results and acknowledged that the agency representatives were pleasantly surprised by the results of the project. Reminded all partners to provide financial documentation needed for the final report. It was also developed a sustainability plan that will ensure that the project materials developed would be used after the project completion.
The project partners have been taken to a guided tour at small and medium sized companies in the sector serving (Tropski vrt by Ocean Orchids and Radgonske Gorice). All participants had the opportunity to be acquainted with their activities and the services they offer. All project participants are very grateful to the Slovenian colleagues for the excellent welcome and hospitality.

The fourth partner meeting in Genoa, Italy, April 21-22, 2016

The fourth meeting for the Erasmus+ project KEY SKILLS FOR EUROPEAN UNION HOTEL STAFF (project no.2014-1-HR01-KA204-007224) was held in Genoa. The project partner IPSSA Nino Bergese (Italy) organized this meeting, representatives of the other project partners attended it-Tourism and Catering School (Dubrovnik), Primrose Publishing (UK), Ekonomska šola Murska Sobota (Slovenia), Turiba University (Latvia) and Universitatea Sapientia din Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
The meeting was held in the conference hall of the hotel Astoria. After the welcome speech of the project coordinator Hilarija Lozančić Benić (Croatia) project partners discussed the necessary documents for the national audit and financial issues. Later the piloting process and results were analysed.
The afternoon working session was dedicated to the discussion about project dissemination activities, the exploitation and sustainability issues of the project materials developed. Some discussion centred on how the DVD should be finalized in view of the fact that the decision to use the best possible method of creating the eLearning Platform to achieve a really impressive result meant that it was not possible for students, when working from the DVD, to carry out the tasks in quite the same way as direct from the eLearning Platform.After that, partners discussed the forthcoming project multiplier events and in the evening, the project participants attended IPSSA Nino Bergese. This is a vocational school where it is possible to acquire professional education in the field of hospitality and catering – to develop all the necessary skills for work in hotel. After the guided tour of Nino Bergese hotel and catering school there was a possibility for guests to taste delicious Italian dishes in the school’s restaurant.
The second day of the meeting was spent on discussing the forthcoming necessary steps on the improvement of the learning platform and eliminating the errors, as well as the Quality report done by the partners of Ekonomska šola Murska Sobota (Slovenia) was analysed.Arrangements for the final meeting in Slovenia were discussed, and details were agreed for the final Multiplier Events which partners would organize in their own country in the later part the project. Project partners also agreed upon the preliminary dates for the final partner meeting in Slovenia in June 2016. In the evening, there was a guided sightseeing tour of the historical centre of Genoa.
